Owner Operator/Driver Recruiting

We always accept applications for new drivers and keep them on file for when we are hiring. Drivers must be owner operators, meaning you must own your own vehicle and drive or have your own driver(s). Most of our business consists of "hot loads" that must be picked up within an hour. We deliver both locally and out of state. Drivers must always be on-call and ready to go on a load unless they have previously stated they will be unavailable or out of service.

Requirements

In general, you must have one of the following cargo vehicles in very good condition with no rust or damage:

Conversion vans are not accepted.

Other Requirements:

Vehicle must be registered as a commercial truck with a GVW matching your vehicle's combined GVWR
Light truck ("LT") tires rated at load range "E" must be installed (Cargo Vans)
Vehicle must be covered under commercial insurance that meets our requirements (available through our office)
- At least $750,000 liability
- The Elite Way Express, Inc. must be listed as an additional insured
- Note: You do not need cargo insurance as we provide that with no charge to you
Be willing to upgrade the suspension and install plywood flooring and tie-downs if necessary
Have a navigation system installed (GPS)
Pass our annual inspection

Driver Requirements:

Must be at least 25 years old (an exception may be made if the driver has a CDL)
Must have a valid driver license that is acceptable under our insurance policy (No more than three moving violations within the last three years)
Must pass a negative pre-employment DOT drug screen
Must carry a nationwide cell phone with text messaging
Must be willing and able (no past felonies or misdemeanors) to deliver freight to Canada

Additional Considerations:

We do not keep you out on the road for days or weeks at a time - you will be home most nights and weekends
We do not use satellite tracking
We do not haul HAZMAT loads
No CDL required (unless required by your vehicle's specifications)
